Sunday started like any other day. We went to church, came home, grabbed a bite to eat, put the girls down for naps, and decided to take a rest ourselves. I was downstairs, and Bob went upstairs to watch some TV and snooze off. I noticed that the wind was picking up but didn't think much about it. Bob was on his feet in a flash when he heard what sounded like a gunshot. A windgust had hit with such force that it twisted one of the large limbs of one of our ash trees and snapped it. (All over the older part of our town, people were experiencing the same thing.) It was not a comforting site to see my almost 50 year old husband high up in a tree with a chainsaw! I did a lot of praying at that point! We have good neighbors, and some of them came over to help. They dragged branches and put them in the two pick-ups, and then off to the tree dump. We now have a huge gap in our normally shady yard, which is very disappointing, BUT considering that the fence was not destroyed and no one one was hurt, we really have a lot to be thankful for!
